I'm fairly sure Sylpheed doesn't require the use of gpg-agent to
process PGP signing requests correctly, so I don't think gpg-agent
and/or pinentry are/is the cause(s) of my issue.

I'm going to try compiling a 2.x version of Sylpheed to see if the
issue is with Sylpheed 3.x or some change in Ubuntu 9.10.
