Giving the fact that on my computer the € is displayed well (I'm on
Windows), I assume that the € is badly encoded (probably it is encoded
as 80 hex, an invalid encoding for ISO-8859-xx, but valid in Windows's
ANSI).
€ does not exists in ISO-8859-1. Same for curly quotation marks.
