Hi,

TL;DR:

Does OAuth+Sylpheed 8 beta 1 works on Windows 7? Do anyone of you use
Windows 7, OAuth and Sylpheed 8 to tell your experience? Does OAuth
require an external modern browser to work on Sylpheed?

Well, Microsoft is joining the club of OAuth **ONLY** authentication.
No even app passwords. Date: September 16th, 2024.

With Gmail I didn't have any problem, I just dumped every account. I
was tired of Google policies.

But with Microsoft..., maybe I don't have that easy, with one of my
oldest mail addresses there.

This time, I doubt that change to another provider will help.

Who bets the next movement is from Yahoo, dumping app passwords and
enforce OAuth?

And why not GMX?, and why not every other?

And hell NO, I won't use mail through web interfaces. I feel nausea
every time I use them. Not to mention my hardware sluggish.

So, at this point, and with ***great considerations*** on renting (I
was going to write buying, oh dear, how innocent!!) a domain+mail
service (if that could guarantee something of control), I want to ask
first if Sylpheed 8 beta 1 and OAuth does work on Windows 7.

If it does work I'll give a try to keep my old hotmail accounts; but,
if not, I'll really consider to switch to a paid service this time
(and the last one; I'm tired of all this) in a hope it gives me some
control and dump every mail service out there. And maybe live in a
cave.

Why not test by myself?, because we go back to Gmail issue, I have to
give my phone number, enable 2 factor/step authentication, blah,
blah, blah, blah, and I'm hell of hesitant to do that if then it
doesn't work and then you are just captive of their policies.

And I would rant about this """security""" madness, but I'll save you
the hassle.

I really hope someone have an answer to my question. And if you read
through here, sorry if I wasted your time.

Regards.
