Hi,

running Windows, but the feature should be the same, after all.

Mail display doesn't work that way for IMAP folders.

The mails (files 1, 2, 3,...) on folders are only displayed inside
sylpheed when there is a corresponding match on
the .sylpheed_cache/.sylpheed_mark files (that might be hidden on
*nix by default; don't worry, are binary, no way to verify content)
in sync with the server.

Copying a file directly to the cache folder does nothing. You have to
import to the IMAP folder inside Sylpheed. Or, as an IMAP cache
folder, if you download/open them it will then be shown as a local
file.

On local folders (sent, inbox, whatever-folder-name), is different.

You can update the folder summary (sorry, don't know the exact
wording on other UI languages), the same context menu option that is
used for IMAP folder sync between server and client, and will read
the files on the folder to re-build the .sylpheed_cache/_mark file.

Export a mail, or mails, to an empty folder as eml files (if it is
not empty could be collisions with other x.eml files (1, 2, 3,...)).
Then, when importing, select to import eml files and just select the
destination folder, as the IMAP folder of your wish, or any local,
whatever you decide.

If you want to do it with just one mail, place only one eml file
in the folder.

Regards.
