Hi Joachim, thanks for the info.

However, here the item "Always mark as read when a message is opened" is both unchecked and greyed out. The item above, "Always open message in summary when selected", is also unchecked (not that this would make a difference in regards to item #9 on my list) - this makes me suspect there is something else that I am probably not aware of...

(Anyway, if I could choose, I'd prefer any message to be marked "read" that I've deliberately opened - and thus had a realistic chance to read.) ;-)
