Hi Ricardo,

Thank you for the reply and please accept my apologies. 

I am aware of backports, but unfortunately, I once had an issue with something else I installed from it and never used anything from backports after that. Felt it was safe to stay away from it.

Your explanation explains why packages weren't updated for Debian stable.

I have seen other packages updated for Fedora 22 (updates) and I was hoping that once Sylpheed had a new version, it would eventually be made available for it.

Since day one using Linux (12 years now), I have always been an end user of it.  :)

I have never programmed or compiled anything with it.
