You don't have the source code.

You need to download that from the Sylpheed website.

Once you have that, you will need to remove the installed Sylpheed from
your computer, expand the tarball, make your changes, and compile and
install Sylpheed. The commands used are,

./configure
make
make install

That assumes you have the correct compiling software installed.
If ./configure returns an error, you will have to add the software it
says you are missing.
