Well, just for fun I've tried with all themes installed in my XFCE (lost
the count after the 20th theme changed) and just found only *one* which
doesn't show the problem (named 'AbsE') which, curiously, has a bigger
font.
This gave some insight: if for example I change the font from default
'Sans' to 'Nimbus Sans L' (same size!) the the problem vanishes for all
themes... so not really sure is only a theme issue, and given Sylpheed
it's the only application which exposes this makes it very suspecting :)
Anyway this discards the issue is architecture-related, which is good.
