Hi!

I have discovered that it is dependant on what GTK theme you use - 
Changing to the Clearlooks GTK theme using the gtk-chtheme program
the problem goes away, but then back on (f.e) industrial, the problem
is back again.

(I am the original bug reporter on the Debian BTS)
