I've briefly tested on Ubuntu 10.04 x86 and on Gentoo x86_64.
It fails on both systems.
Sylpheed gets stuck, with a repeating output of:

got address: a
address_completion_create_completion_window
address_completion_create_completion_window done
changed: a
address_completion_complete_address_in_entry
...
