[sylpheed:32944] gmail with sylpheed problems

Everytime I check gmail with sylpheed a message pops up which says.



"SSL certificate verify failed

The SSL certificate of pop.gmail.com cannot be verified by the following reason:
  unable to get local issuer certificate

Server certificate:
  Subject: /C=US/ST=California/L=Mountain View/O=Google Inc./CN=pop.gmail.com
  Issuer: /C=US/O=Equifax/OU=Equifax Secure Certificate Authority

Do you accept this certificate?"



Is there a reason for this and is there a way I can stop it?

I am using Ubuntu Hardy Heron.
