Looks like I spoke too soon in my other messages in this thread.  I've
also been seeing a hang quite frequently within the last 24 hours when
accessing Gmail.  I haven't knowingly changed any configuration recently
(although my distribution (Debian Sid) upgrading, which I do daily,
might have). Sometimes it works fine, and sometimes it just hangs and I
have to kill Sylpheed.  It looks like I'll have to use getmail and
switch Sylpheed to my local account until this is resolved.
