Hi,

It is not an eeasy task, different Mailsystems which provides imap uses
different names and folder structures, sometimes localized, sometimes
in subfolders...

So if there is no imap standard of mark folders as special folders
(istrash, isdraftsfolder) on the imap server, then it is no good idea
to create folders without user interaction. Otherwisi you'd have
different trash folders for different MUAs on that server:

e.g. Trash, trash, Müll, Papierkorb, papierkorb, corbeille ...

I do not know if imap systems provide properties which can be used for
identifiing folders as special folders.

But, in the account creation dialog should be something like 'get
folders'  after entering the server data, to be able to set up the
copy to special folders section without leaving the properties editing
window.
