Dear Gergo: In response to your kind advice, I am running version 2.4.0beta7. I went to the "details" and unchecked the "display tray icon". Now that works. In the "other" tab, I wanted the dialog box displayed always. But there is no option for notification icon on system tray. Please help me with this. Also, for some reason, auto receive every 5 mins is not working as well.

Should I go back to the normal released version or continue to use the beta version 2.4.0beta?
--thanks so much for your help.

I use sylpheed for a while now and really like it.

But now I recognized that for some mails received from a mailing list
sylpheed does not recognize it as from a mailing list. When I choose
answer to mailinglist it still uses the 'from' email as destination
  address.

My question is, how does Sylpheed decides the mail is a list mail?

The mailman administrator told me that it should base on the List-Id
header but it is correct, also the list-post header.

  So what is going wrong?

Are you using a 2.4.x version at all? If so, go to Configuration - Common preferences... and in the dialog go to Details and in that Interface tab. It is there.
