Which in most if not all cases are useless for SPAM filtering. Mail
emanating from IP addresses on block lists such as Spamhaus should be
filtered at the receiving MTA. 

I've no problems with IMAP per se, but I really fail to see how using
bogofilter through Sylpheed would give acceptable results in
circumstances where IMAP makes sense. The biggest problem is that
Bayesian filters need a database, and that specifically bogofilter
for best results needs to update that database with every message it
processes. 

If you have several different and incomplete instances of the
bogofilter database on the different machines you're using to access
the IMAP server, the results of the SPAM filtering will be completely
unpredictable. If all these machines have access to the same database,
there are better solutions than IMAP to access your mail folders.

It's a square peg in a round hole.
