[sylpheed:36754] help build sylpheed on osx ?

I see the OSX version of sylpheed dates to 2014.
I would like to attempt to build it on OSX, but have no clue how to do this.
I searched the web, there does not seem to be any guide explaining how to build sylpheed on OSX, like there is for other linux email clients.
Can anyone help? Has anyone successfully built sylpheed on OSX 10.13 ? Thanks!
