How did you update Sylpheed?
The file sylpheed-3.5rc-win32-patch.zip is only applicable to
3.5beta3. because 3.4.x and 3.5.x uses totally different version of
libraries.

You have to use installer or full archive version if you are upgrading
from 3.4.x.
