[sylpheed:34861] how to change color and font of sylpheed (even after reading FAQ)

Hi,

I am running Fedora 15 LXDE and sylpheed 3.2.beta3.

I know this is a question that is on the FAQ, but I can not seem to get it to work. 

Specifically, I would like to change the color scheme of the three panes to be white on black with different colors for the different kinds of highlighting. Reading through the FAQ, it appears that I should be able to do this using $HOME/.gtkrc-2.0, but it does not appear to be having any effect.

I also would like to change the font of the folder view and the list view in the top pane, but am unable to figure out what to do. I thought the .gtkrc-2.0 should handle that perhaps, but once again, it does not seem to be providing much help.

Does anyone have suggestions on this? I am migrating back to claws-mail (there, we set up gtkrc-2.0 under .claws-mail directory) and so was wondering if there was anything similar that we have to do here, and that is not documented in the parts of the FAQ I saw.
