That would be fine in terms of theme selection (GTK+ installed by
Pidgin comes with 9 themes or smth and also installs a UI theme
selector either for current user or global)

Unfortunately Sylpheed is not the only one which installs its own GTK+
even if another global one is already there, GIMP for example does the
same, Inkscape does the same.
