I could fix it if a closing paren is seen without a matching open paren.
Like:
    (http://bob.org/filepath/file.html)
but this would break uri/url paths like this:
    http://bob.org/filepath/strange)path.html
    or
    http://bob.org/filepath/some.cgi?myfile=AABB)X99(
