Browsers close tabs on middle button, RSS readers 'mark all
read' - for me it is okay (I know when I press which button :)).

Maybe the best way would be (as suggested by Godwin) a configurable
middle button? Per default it makes the same as the left button and can
be modified to (e.g.) "right button", "mark all read", "edit the
preferences of that folder", <insert some action here> :)
