The first quoted line above should be a big hint for you.
Your news provider obviously doesn't allow you to munge your e-mail
address in a way that makes it no longer valid from a syntactical point
of view.
If you want to munge your e-mail address on USENET (and many do!) then
you can use the example.net domain and/or the .invalid gTLD.
