[sylpheed:31201] Sylpheed pausing when socket IO times out

I've been getting some pauses with Sylpheed 2.4.0 (Ubuntu, compiled
from source). Here's what the log window shows:

It takes a full minute for Sylpheed to respond when the socket times out.
While the socket is timing out, I can't do anything with Sylpheed.

I don't believe this is a problem with Dovecot on the other end, though
it may be. I think this started happening recently, when I installed 2.4.0
