[pgpool-general: 4702] Script / agent to attach unattached nodes

Hi All,

I would like to write some kind of an agent that will check my master and slave/slaves machines and attach them to the pool if they become unattached.  Is it smart to do it fully automatic or certain cases should be left to be handled manually

I will be happy to get code sample or advice as to the best way to do it.

*         Should this agent run on centralized place with access to the master and slaves machines or have an agent per master / slave machines.

*         Is it possible to have two machines marked as master unattached?  How do I know which machine holds the latest data?

*         If the agent is running locally on each machine.  Do I need to check my network connectivity before becoming attached?  If I have network connectivity (ping to switch) but I cannot access the other machine is it still ok to become attached (master or slave)

*         Should the script also perform basebackup on old master unattached machines.  What do I need to check before performing the basebackup.
