[pgpool-general: 3473] pgpoolAdmin "Return" button - programmatically

Hello Pgpool Group,
I would like to be able to return a failed node with status 3 resulted from running pcp_node_info (shown as "down" in pgpoolAdmin UI) to be able to receive connection from pgpool after I validate it is up and running in my code. What pcp command is running behind the scenes when I click "return" button??
I tried running "pcp_attach_node 5 localhost 9898 USERNAME PWD 1" but it returns the node to a state 1 (instead of 2) and after several minutes the node goes back to state 3 (down).

Your help is appreciated.
