A case study using pgpool-II is now in public:

The customer is JTB, one of the largest travel agencies in Japan.  The
system integrator is NTT DATA CCS. SRA OSS, Inc. Japan provided
consultation and support services.

The case study was originally published in Japanese in 2009, so it is
a little bit outdated. The system uses JBoss, Tomcat, PostgreSQL and
pgpool-II, which is running in native replication mode.
