[pgpool-general: 1054] Too many open files

I'm getting
'pipe open error:Too many open files'
'gethostbyname() failed: Host name lookup failure host: pgool-con2

Same error on standby pgpool host but -  failure host: pgpool-con1

Is there a parameter setting I need to change?

Hosts = Ubuntu
Postgresql - 9.2.1
Pgpool-II = 3.2
