It's best to ask this kind of question in pgsql-general mailing list
because it's not directly related to pgpool-II itself.

Anyway, in my understanding steaming primary(master) and
standby(slave) must share the same CPU architecure at least.  For
example, 32bit vs. 64bit architecure will not work in streaming
replication.
