 You don't need to change anything. Just go to the sylpheed source
folder and do

 patch -p1 < panel-fixy.patch

 It works with 2.5.0beta2, and just switched to 2.5.0rc and the patch
still applies. Though I am not sure if it will help your problem, you
will try and let us know :)
